Jordan High School Stadium
Long Beach Unified School District
The Phase 5A Stadium project at Jordan High School is the 8th project in the Major Renovation campaign at the campus. This phase, which is to be completed in the Summer of 2025, is a re-build of the athletic stadium at the site. The previous stadium dates back to the 1950s, making this update long overdue.
The project replaces the existing natural surface field and decomposed granite track with state-of-the-art artificial surfacing on both the track and the field. This will allow for year-round use of the field by a variety of sports and provides the most current technology in artificial athletic surfacing – and, due to the school colors, the field will be blue!
The previous early-1950s “Bleacher Building” that had rooftop stadium seating is replaced with a new 3,300 seat Home-Side bleacher system, including a full press box (the Visitor-Side bleachers are to be installed in a future project). The new Stadium includes a full speaker and lighting system, capable of “show light” features for athlete and audience entertainment. A new scoreboard features a video screen for custom content and instant replays. New concessions and restroom facilities are provided, as well as a Team Room for the home-team use before, after and during halftime of a sports event.
The Stadium project is the newest in the Major Renovation campaign at Jordan High School, which has so far spanned more than a decade. While not containing any classroom space, this project is significant for the culture and breadth of education provided at Jordan High School and is another improvement to this historic campus within the Long Beach Unified School District.
