The Huntington Beach Adult Education / Coast High School is a 20,000 Sq. Ft. Facility sited on the southeast edge of the existing Ocean View High School Campus and is part of the Huntington Beach Union High School District. Coast High School consists of four of the twelve new instructional spaces, including the parenting program and a learning center. The remaining spaces will house the Adult Education programs, which include three English second language classrooms, two computer spaces, an art room, a medical instruction facility, and a forum space along with administration facilities.
To provide a physical separation and a separate identity, the new Adult Education / Coast High School project is organized around a central exterior courtyard space. Circulation between all instructional spaces will be provided within this courtyard. This arrangement will help limit contact between users of the Adult Education campus and the Ocean View High School campus. Green building practices have been incorporated to address environmental concerns and energy conservation. Natural daylighting is provided at all instructional spaces through generous glazing and skylights. Energy efficient lighting and mechanical systems will also provide a comfortable learning environment and provide cost saving to the School District.
