PJHM Spotlight: Ofelia Soriano

Ofelia Soriano, PJHM Architects

Hi, my name is Ofelia Soriano and I have been working at PJHM Architects for almost a year.

I discovered my passion for art during my middle school years, which lead to an early exploration of different drawing techniques and materials. Along this path I discovered the captivating world of architecture and the beauty of clean lines, light and other natural elements. This idea of incorporating natural elements in architecture was reinforced after my first internship at The Neutra Institute for Survival Through Design. I was fortunate enough to work with Dion Neutra who taught me among other things, the importance of building preservation and giving back to the community.

I attended the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) where I completed my B.Arch in 2012. This journey would not have been possible without the continuous emotional and financial support of my parents and fiancé.

My knowledge of architecture has expanded since I joined PJHM Architects. It is great to be part of a team like PJHM, who has specialized in the planning, designing and modernizing of California school facilities since 1963.  The Co-labs, lunch picnics, knowledgeable staff, and friendly environment have made the transition from college to the working world a very smooth one. PJHM is a one of a kind working environment where employees and dogs run free, and all of this makes my 100 mile daily commute worth every minute.
